NetGuide Review of Chuckles, Negril Jamaica
8/19/96
After checking out Reggae Sunfest in Montego Bay, our group headed for Negril for a little relaxation and kick back the pace a little bit. On our first day in, we checked in at Chuckles, into a beautiful room on the upper floor, overlooking the Negril Bay and 7 Mile Beach. Each morning we got one of the best views of the beach and ocean possible, without being in an airplane. Chuckles is situated on a hilltop at the base of a gentle valley. One thing I really liked was the seclusion and security of Chuckles once you pass the front gate. Pure peace and quiet. Also, it was close to the cliffs of the West End, where you'll find the Pickled Parrot and Rick's Cafe or left at the Roundabout and within walking distance of the beach and craft market. Our room also overlooked the pool and pool-bar restaurant complex. Service was good and the staff also accomodated our meals at all times. We were also able to rent bicycles, motorcycles and scooters at the front desk. The tour desk had a good selection of day trips and excursions to the Y-S Falls and Roaring River. Dive trips, sailing and boat rentals can all be reserved at the tour desk. We went to Roaring River on the third day and it was unbelievable. The people were very cool and friendly. If you go, ask for Benji. He will show you the river and the swimming hole. The day before we left, we went by car through Blue Fields/Sav-La-Mar and Black River, all the way to Treasure Beach. All in all our stay in Chuckles was reasonable priced, secure and hassle-free. I would recommend this hotel to couples or families with children looking for a moderate priced vacation.-J.M. Lew
